Person-Centred Counselling

A Safe, Supportive Space to Explore Your Experience

What Is Person-Centred Counselling?

Person-centred counselling is a compassionate and non-judgemental approach to therapy that places you at the centre of the process. Rather than being told what to do or how to think, you are supported in exploring your own thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace.

Developed by psychologist Carl Rogers, this approach is built on the belief that every person has the inner capacity for growth, healing, and positive change when given the right environment.

Person-centred therapy focuses on creating a relationship where you feel:

  • Heard without judgement
  • Accepted as you are
  • Safe to express difficult emotions
  • Empowered to better understand yourself
  • Supported in finding your own direction

How I Use Person-Centred Counselling in Therapy

In our sessions, my role is not to “fix” you or tell you what choices to make. Instead, I offer a supportive therapeutic relationship where you can speak openly and honestly about what is going on in your life.

I work to create a space where you feel genuinely listened to, respected, and understood.

Using a person-centred approach means I will:

Listen with empathy

I aim to deeply understand your experience from your perspective, helping you feel truly heard and validated.

Offer a non-judgemental environment

You can bring whatever is on your mind into the room without fear of criticism or pressure.

Support your self-awareness

Together, we explore your feelings, patterns, and experiences so you can gain greater clarity and understanding of yourself.

Work at your pace

There is no pressure to talk about anything before you are ready. Therapy moves in a way that feels safe and manageable for you.

Encourage personal growth

As trust develops, many people begin to feel more confident, self-accepting, and connected to themselves and others.

What Can Person-Centred Counselling Help With?

This approach can support people experiencing:

  • Anxiety and stress
  • Low self-esteem
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Grief and loss
  • Feeling overwhelmed or stuck
  • Depression
  • Identity and life transitions
  • Emotional difficulties
  • General personal growth and self-understanding

What to Expect From Sessions

Each session is guided by what feels important to you. Some days you may want to explore emotions deeply, while other times you may simply need a space to pause and reflect.

Therapy is collaborative, confidential, and centred around your individual needs and experiences.

My aim is to help you feel safe enough to explore your thoughts openly and supported enough to move toward meaningful change in your life.
